Here's My Pose

Another in my series of penguin portraits, this little chap is drawn with pastel pencils - holding ordinary pastels in my mouth to draw with is not an option! Based on a photo in a reference book, I decided to make the background more angular to contrast with the penguin's gentle curves. I decided on this limited palette for a more illustrative look, using cooler colours apart from the tiny area of pink on its beak. 

It's drawn on thick paper, A4 format (roughly 21cm x 30cm, 8 1/4" x 11 3/4") and is unframed.
